Portuguese Emerging Art (PEA) is a yearbook created in 2016 with the aim of promoting the work of Portuguese emerging artists inside and outside Portugal.

Fee: No application fee

Longlist announcement: July 3, 2020
Shortlist announcement (up to 20 artists): September 2020

Book launch: on a date to be defined at the PLMJ Foundation, Lisbon.

Who can apply?
Visual artists, of any nationality, aged 23 or over, working and living in Portugal for 1 year and Portuguese artists living and working outside Portugal. Individual, duo or collective applications are accepted.

What categories are accepted?
The categories vary between digital art / new media art, public art, artistic ceramics, disciplinary crossings *, draw, sculpture, photography, installation art, performance art, painting, sound art and video art.

* disciplinary crossing is a merge between the categories mentioned or at least two areas. For example, art, science and technology, but also with other artistic disciplines, namely, dance or cinema.

What do I need to apply?
It’s simple! A biography, a website or portfolio link, images and statement of the work (s) or series (s).

Anything else I should know?
Yes. This edition is the first to have a theme. #Sustainability was the theme chosen within the scope of the Lisboa Green Capital 2020. The book will be produced and distributed with the least impact possible on the environment.
